Patricia L. “Patti” Moriarity
After a long and courageous battle, Patricia “Patti” (Strickland) Moriarity of Middleport, NY passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 62.
Patti was born on May 1, 1961 in Lockport, NY to Demerle and Shirley (Berghorn) Strickland. She was a lifelong resident of West Shelby. Patti married her high school sweetheart, Paul Moriarity, July 2, 1982, at her parents’ farm and together they built a life they loved.
Her work ethic is one to be truly admired. Patti worked as a dental assistant at Medina Dental Group for 41 years. She loved her work which was clear to all her patients and beloved co-workers.
Patti was an avid gardener and would spend hours in her many flowerbeds tending to her vast collection of day lilies. When she wasn’t in her garden, you could find her in the kitchen cooking savory meals and sweet treats for her family. There is nothing better than Nonnie’s cooking. Her passion for cooking and gardening will live on through her children and grandchildren, her greatest legacy.
Patti had a smile that could make anyone’s day better and all who knew her will miss her unforgettable giggle. She was a lover of all and was able to find the good in the worst of times. Not only was she kind-hearted, but she was selfless; putting the needs of those around her first. Her love for dragonflies will forever be a symbol of her love held dear by those closest to her.
Patti was predeceased by her parents, Demerle and Shirley Strickland; her sister and best friend, Sue Snell; her brother-in-law, Michael Snell; mother-in-law, Shirley Moriarity; and brother-in-law, Christopher Moriarity.
Patti is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Moriarity; her children, Erin (Matthew Foster) Moriarity, Sean (Erin) Moriarity, and Ryin (Michael Manicki) Moriarity; her grandchildren, Isabelle, Avery, Lucy, Ainsley, Everett, Isla, Finnegan, June, Macallan and Sullivan. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Gary) Dudley and Deborah (Ronald) Houseman, along with her extended family that includes brothers and sisters in-law, several nieces, nephews and her many friends.
At Patti’s request, there will be no calling hours. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either the Neuro Oncology Center at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center c/o Dr. Abad or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
