Patricia Lawrence "Patty" Murphy, of Margaret St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, Nov. 7, 2023 at the Wynn Hospital, Utica with the love and support of her family at her bedside. She has now been embraced once again into the loving arms of her son, Nicholas.
Patricia was born on Feb. 26, 1969 in Ilion, daughter of the late William Lawrence who passed away in 1987 and Beatrice (Wandover) of Herkimer. Patty attended Frankfort-Schuyler High School and graduated from Herkimer College. She was united in marriage with Sean Murphy on April 27, 2002 in Herkimer at the First United Methodist Church, a blessed union of 21 years.
Patty loved animal of all types, and her cats Finbar and Seamus will forever hold a special place in her heart.
Her biggest passion was helping other families that were dealing with the challenges of Cystic Fibrosis, which inflicted her son Nick. She enjoyed and fondly remembers childhood family trips to Canada, loved Long Beach Island, New Jersey, and enjoyed her visits to the Turning Stone Casino.
Patty believed in connecting with loved ones who passed on and would urge all who loved her to look for signs of her outreach and presence from heaven. Kindly consider sending memorial contributions in her honor to the National Make a Wish Foundation or the Michelle Adey Memorial Fund of Rome, NY (a local Cystic Fibrosis foundation).
Besides her husband Sean at home, she is survived by her daughters, Emily Murphy of Herkimer and Allison Murphy of Herkimer, her mother, Bea of Herkimer, her siblings, Kenneth Lawrence (Anne Marie), Larry Lawrence (Debbie), William Lawrence (Laura), Ann Johnston (Dale), Diane Forbes (Jerry), Linda Lawrence (Kim), brothers in law, Brian Murphy (Michelle), Kevin Murphy (Kiyoko), Patrick Murphy, Michael Murphy, and Connor Murphy, as well as her mother-in-law, Patricia Murphy, many nieces, nephews and cousins, too numerous to mention. Besides her beloved child, Nicholas who passed on March 7, 2011, she was preceded in death by her father William, her Godson, Lucas Lawrence in 2018 and by a special niece, Sarah Johnston in 2020.
The Lawrence family will be present at the locally owned and operated Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, between Little Falls and St. Johnsville, 315-508-5131 on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 from 2-3 pm. Her funeral service will commence on Sunday at the conclusion of calling hours (3 pm) from the chapel of MVFC where family and friends will share memories. A private interment service will take place in the spring of 2024
