It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Patricia Marguerite Nuytten, who left us on January 8, 2025 at the age of 77 after a long fight with Parkinson's Disease. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her loss leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on November 5, 1947 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Patty was the daughter of Charles and Marguerite Campbell. She grew up in Northern California and began a career in nursing, and later lived in Virginia, Alabama, Illinois, Florida, and her final home in North Carolina. In her younger days Patty tirelessly cared for her son Shan, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the young age of 9. She was very active in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, and with Parents for Heroes, a support group for families with cancer that she was instrumental in organizing and very passionate about. Patty loved to travel, sew and play tennis, and she was always busy with family, friends, church, and her many cherished pets. Later in life Patty was a devoted grandmother and loved nothing more than to spend time playing games or watching sporting events and dance recitals with her seven grandchildren. Patty was known for her kindness, faith, sense of humor, and incredible strength.
Patty was a loving mother to Shan, Heidi, and Erika and grandmother to Kayleigh, Emily, Megan, Grant, Brady, Haley, and Julia. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and wisdom that will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
In addition to her family, Patty is survived by her sister-in-law Lynne Sheppard, her nephew Greg Campbell and his family, her nephew Kevin Campbell, and several lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Shan Marker, her brother Rusty Campbell, and her parents Charlie and Meg Campbell.
A memorial service to honor Patricia Nuytten will be held at The Chapel at Morning Star in Matthews, North Carolina on February 8, 2025 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which Patty was a lifelong supporter of.
Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that Patty is at peace with our Lord and no longer fighting her long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Her love and memories will live on in each of us, forever cherished and never forgotten.
