Patricia Opitz, born on May 12, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to John Sylvester Lacki and Josephine Pohl, passed away on January 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and creativity. Patricia was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many through her various talents and her compassion, laughter, courage and intelligence. She was loved and revered by family and friends.
Patricia dedicated a significant portion of her life to the noble profession of nursing. She was a registered nurse, very committed to her patients and the healthcare of the community. She was also a forceful patient advocate when needed the most. Patricia's kindness and expertise provided comfort and care to countless individuals.
Beyond her nursing career, Patricia was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an avid animal lover, active member of the Humane Society, and utilized her medical knowledge to provide care and respite for countless animals throughout her life. She was also a registered floral designer, and her artistic flair blossomed in her floral and basket arrangements through her business, Baskets in Bloom, bringing beauty and joy to countless events and occasions. In addition, she provided cosmetics as a Mary Kay consultant for friends and family. A trailblazer for her time, she also started her own Native American jewelry business, Pueblo East, raising awareness across the country of the talent, craftsmanship, beauty and culture of the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi tribes.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Opitz, her caring daughter, Christine Savi and husband Mark, and her caring son, Philip Opitz and wife Holly. She also leaves behind two nieces, Michelle and Danielle Kroupa, as well as a beloved cousin, Janice Kosobucki. Patricia's family and friends will forever cherish the memories they created together.
Her laughter was unmistakable.
A Celebration of Life service is being planned to honor Patricia. Donations to the ASPCA are asked in lieu of flowers. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be laid to rest on the family farm.
