Patricia Papiernik, devoted aunt and friend passed away on Sunday September 29th 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John J. Blackham and Emma (nee O'Neill) Blackham. Aunt Pat is survived by her niece Sonya (nee Santiago) Ryan, her husband Tim and her great-nephews or as she called them "her boys" Gabriel, Christopher, Connor and Oliver. Pat was born and raised in Philadelphia with her brothers and sisters. She was a graduate from West Catholic Girls (1965) in South Philly. She then went on to work at Independence Blue cross for over 40 years. She took in her niece in 2006 giving her and her newborn twins a safe and loving home. Soon after, they moved to Glenolden, she retired and made her great-nephews her whole world. She enjoyed interrogating them about their day, driving them everywhere and volunteering them to help with her friends. She also enjoyed crafting anything with flowers including her infamous wreaths and bouquets for dance recitals, she also loved spending time with her friends and her beloved animals. She was involved with many different organizations over the years including the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 979, Glenolden Swim Club, and Glenolden 4th of July.
In true Aunt Pat style she requested that, in lieu of a mass, you take a moment to put on some Ricky Martin music, drink a glass of tequila and just think of the good times you had with her. As Pat always said to her niece " You can either laugh about it or cry about it and no one has time for your ugly tears"
