Patricia Pool Obituary

Patricia Ann O'Shea Pool died peacefully at home on March 2, 2026 at the age of 95. Pat was born and raised in Rutland, Vermont. She was the last of the seven children born to Dennis and Edna (Routier) O'Shea. She was proud of her Irish heritage and would exclaim upon meeting "I'm from Vermont and I'm Irish". She attended Mount St. Joseph's Academy and Rutland Business College. Upon graduation she worked at General Electric in Burlington, Vermont in their payroll department. It was at GE where she met her future husband, John Pool. They married in 1954. During her marriage to John they lived in many places as his employment at GE progressed. They lived in Monterrey, Mexico, Schenectady, NY, Hackensack, NJ, Daytona, FL and Syracuse, NY. Finally, settling in DeWitt, NY for over 50 years. For the last 9 years, Pat lived in Manlius with her son Charles and his family.

Over her life time she enjoyed painting, bird watching, gardening, botany, skiing, hiking, sewing and knitting. Pat and John shared a passion for travel during their marriage and enjoyed the arts, nature and experiencing foreign cultures. Throughout her life time, Pat was a member of Holy Cross Church, Meals on Wheels and a tour guide for the NYS State Park at Clark Reservation.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years John, in 2018; and her siblings, Robert, Marie, Madeline, Dorothy, Theresa and Helena. She is survived by her five children, Elizabeth McNabb (Kyle), Malina White, Robert (Grace) Pool, Charles (Ann) Pool, and Alicia Beccio (Marc); as well as her six grandchildren, Michael (Hyejin), Matthew and Ellery Pool, Kristen (Dan) Thompson, and Sarah and Jennifer Pool; and one great grandchild, Eugene Pool.
The family would like to thank Pat's long-term caregivers, Christine, Kristen and Nancy, over the past six years for their dedication kindness and patience in caring for Pat. As well as, the support of Aging Advocates of CNY, especially Bernadette and Sheila.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
