The world lost a bit of its light with the passing of Patricia Jane Smith on October 1, 2025, at the age of 73.
Jane was born on December 28, 1951, in Atmore, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Loyd Smith, and her mother, Clara Smith Miller, along with several cherished family members. We find peace knowing they welcomed her with open arms.
She is survived by her partner and best friend, Natalie Justin; her brother, John Allen Smith (Gracie Paul); her sister, Martha Smith Pridgeon (Mark); and her sister, Carol Rudd (Jeff, Robby, Michelle). She also leaves behind her nephew, Sean Pridgeon (Hannah), and her niece, Shannon Pridgeon (Joey and Casten); as well as her close first cousin, Mark Scott (Alex), and her dear friend, Jesse Macey.
In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends who were blessed to know her. We will carry her memory and her example forward every day.
Jane's life was a reflection of compassion-always putting others before herself and serving with love and humility.
There will be a private graveside service for the family, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
