Patricia Smith

Patricia Smith, age 61, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 in Louisville, KY.

She was born on March 15, 1964, in Brandenburg, KY, daughter of the late James and Barbara Humphrey. Along with her parents, she was preceded by Ricky Humphrey.

Patty was a devoted military wife who followed her husband around the world, creating a loving home in challenging environments. She also worked several years as the school registrar for the DoDD school system while stationed in Japan. She was a homemaker and prided herself on creating a home that was full of love and laughter. She was always very supportive of her family, especially her husband, and she taught them what it meant to be kind. Patty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Jacky G. Smith; daughter, Susan (Corey) Mellinger; sister, Carolyn Humphrey; brothers, David (Elois) Humphrey, Stephen Humphrey, and Charlie (Janet) Humphrey; and grandchildren, Adriana Mellinger, Caprice Mellinger, Nicole Mellinger, Isabella Mellinger, and Olivia Mellinger.

Cremation has been chosen by the family and Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
