Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – MacDonald Chapel - Howell on Jan. 9, 2024.
Patricia Marie Van Hook, affectionately known as Pat, passed away on January 6, 2024, with her family by her side at Trinity health in Ypsilanti. Born on October 4, 1933, in the rolling hills of Follansbee, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ernest Jules and Katherine Josephine Cooper Isler. Pat relocated to Detroit, where she met and then married her Love, the late Earl Van Hook on June 10, 1969. They eventually settled in Brighton in 1997.
Pat was the cornerstone of her family, dedicating her life to the Lord and to the role of housewife and mother. Her children and five generations that she generated were the focus of her life. She is lovingly remembered and will be sorely missed by her children, Tom, Deborah, Robert (Carol) Suzette and Renee. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, TJ, Bill, Derek, Heather, Billy, Devon and Autumn. Pat also had 15 great grandchildren who brought her such joy and 15 great-great grandchildren. Her sisters Kathy Harris (Jon) and Wanda (James) Turner will hold dear memories of their sisters, unwavering, love and support. She is now together with her beloved sister, Lillian Maxine Smith, who preceded her death in 1999 and her loving husband Earl.
Pat had various interests, including figure and roller-skating in her youth, tapdancing, bowling, cooking and baking for her family and anyone who was hungry. Being the devoted mother she was, she had many talents, and also truly enjoyed taking care of her birds, birdwatching, and her beautiful flowers. A devoted Christian, Pat read her Bible daily, living her faith through her actions and unwavering love for The Lord. Her love for sparkly jewelry was matched only by the sparkle in her eye once surrounded by her loved ones. She kept her mind sharp and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles and working on puzzles. She was the epitome of a loving, generous, thoughtful and kind human being. She had a heart that never hesitated to give an a
spirit that never failed to uplift. Her presence was a gift to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and her absence will be deeply felt, as we bid farewell to Patricia, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Patricia had a love for flowers and also a special fondness for Gleaners food bank as she did not want to see anyone go hungry.
Thank you all for your love support prayers and good vibes. Rest in peace our sweet angel.
