Patrick Briscoe Obituary

Patrick J. Briscoe
Born: March 13, 1945
Died: January 2, 2026
Patrick J. Briscoe, age 80, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. Born and raised in Joliet, Patrick was a lifelong resident who deeply cherished his family, friends, and community.
Patrick was educated at St. Raymond's and Joliet Catholic High School. Patrick proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He later married his true love, Karen (Ancel) Briscoe, and together they shared 51 years of marriage. A proud member of the Teamsters Union and Moran A.C. Patrick drove trucks for various companies in the Joliet area before completing his career as a maintenance worker for IDOT, a role he greatly valued.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mable (Aspel) and Edmund Briscoe; his in-laws John B. and Marlene "Nana" (Smith) Ancel; his siblings Audrey (John) Donnelly, Joann (Jim) Shepley and Edward (Dorothy) Briscoe; and brother in-law John Ancel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children Michael (Michele) Briscoe and Christine (Neil) Hodge; his grandchildren Brooke and Chelsea Briscoe, and Jack and Abigail Hodge; his sister Beverly (Gary) Govoni; siblings-in-law Randy (Gabriella) Ancel, Nancy (the late Michael) Mitok, Jodi Ancel; and many nieces and nephews.
He had a lifelong passion for cars. He enjoyed car shows and races and proudly built two show-quality vehicles, a 1960 Pontiac Catalina and a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire.
Pat formed friendships that lasted a lifetime and continued making new ones until the very end. He was known for checking in on others and taking interest in their lives. In retirement, he stayed active, going to breakfast and lunch with friends, attending cruise nights, car shows, and local festivals throughout Will County. Patrick especially enjoyed time at St. Joe's Park, sharing stories, listening to live music, enjoying fair food, and sipping a Coca-Cola. In his later years, his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in their activities.
Patrick will be remembered for his love of family, friends, pride in his work, and passion for cars. His legacy lives on in the many memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Patrick's memory by donating blood, if able, or by supporting Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, whose kindness and compassion provided great comfort to Patrick and his loved ones.
A celebration of Patrick's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
