Patrick Joseph "Pat" Carey

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Patrick Joseph Carey, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of October 8, 2025.

Patrick was born on February 12, 1945, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Con and Mary Jane Carey (Heater) and is the eldest of nine children. After graduating from Kokomo High School in 1963, he worked for his family's business and served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He moved to Fort Myers in 1974, where he built a successful commercial telephone business.

Pat is survived by his two daughters, Jo-An Eckstein (Joseph) and Cathy Agacinski (Kenny), seven grandchildren, Raechle Stronko, Shelby Agacinski, Nick Stronko, Paisley Agacinski, Holly Eckstein, Hillary Whirle, and Haven Eckstein. He also has two great-grandchildren Addilyn Whirle and Ayla Whirle. Five brothers, John (Christine), Con (Patti), Michael (Suzanne), David, Brian (Suzin) and only sister, Mary Agness (Ross). Pat was preceded in death by two of his brothers, Robert, and Thomas Carey.

Patrick was known as a quiet humanitarian, continually making anonymous donations anytime he found an opportunity. He continued to "Pay it Forward" when an opportunity presented itself. In honor of his legacy, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, you take the next opportunity you have, to Pay it Forward.
