Patrick Christopher David Marquez Obituary

Patrick Frank Christopher David Marquez, the firstborn son, was born in Apple Valley, California on a beautiful day-February 27, 1992-to his loving mother, Monica Cardenas, and loving father, Patrick Marquez. He was 33 years old when he left this earth on November 2, 2025, at his mom's home in Spring, Texas.
Patrick was a gentle soul who loved nature and had a tremendous heart for people. Everyone who knew him would tell you that he was their favorite. He carried a quiet peace about him-thoughtful, kind, and deeply introspective. From an early age, Patrick loved to take things apart and figure out how to put them back together again. He was lovingly spoiled by his Nana Mom, and if you knew him, you surely knew about her. Together they shared an inseparable bond, full of adventures-from Yellowstone trips to rides on the "fun bus."
Patrick was loved deeply by many because he made space for everyone in his life. He learned and loved to surf-something his dad introduced him to-which became a source of solace for him, even though he had a lifelong fear of whales ("especially the blue ones!"). Later, he discovered his passion for BMX and his need for going fast was insatiable. Growing up in Barstow, he could often be found riding streets and jumping ramps and even jumping over his brother, which his mom hated. His talent shined when he won first place in the first annual BMX competition at the Barstow Skatepark.
He was adored by his family-his brother Stephen James Sheppard and sister Sarah Jessica Sheppard loved and admired him deeply. Patrick had a unique sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. He wanted the world to be a better place, hated seeing others suffer, and often went out of his way to lift people up. He had a gift for sharing positivity and always thought of others before himself.
Patrick was an avid learner, and you would always see him with his notebook in hand because he was dedicated to journaling. He valued discipline, order, and personal growth. He especially loved attending outpatient therapy, where he learned to organize his thoughts and feelings and set meaningful goals. In his final months, he wrote about being joyful, valuable, contemplative, amused, and daring. He planned to change the world-and he did.
Patrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Pasqual Marquez and survived by his mother and father, brother and sister, stepdads, stepbrothers and stepsisters, nieces, nephews, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Patrick was truly one of a kind. It was a blessing to experience his way of thinking, the way he communicated, and the way he expressed his love. He will live on in our hearts forevermore.
