Delmar Alston McCutcheon passed away peacefully at his home in Spring, Texas at the
age of 92 on October 25, 2025.
Delmar was born to Earl and Beryle McCutcheon in Bakersfield, California on March16 th, 1933. He was the youngest of four siblings, with two brothers and one sister. After attending and graduating East Bakersfield High School, he joined his family's tradition of working for Southern Pacific Railroad (where his father, two brothers, and other family members worked) in 1952. Shortly after, Delmar enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a helicopter mechanic until 1955. After his service he rejoined the railroad, working as a locomotive engineer for 55 years, before retiring in 2010.
Delmar, commonly referred to as D.A. or Mac by his friends, always had a love for cars. This began with a customized 1946 Chevrolet coupe, 1955 Buick Special (named the Candy Cane), and ultimately, a 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS (named the Clown Wagon). This love for cars took him all over the United States competing in the World of Wheels car show circuit throughout the 1970's, building lifelong memories and friendships along the way. In the 1980's, Delmar continued his love of cars by directing, promoting, and operating his own car show, the Bakersfield stop of the World of Wheels.
Aside from cars, Delmar loved being in the Sierra Mountains of California. At an early age, he began deer hunting with his dad and developed a strong passion for the sport. He spent much of his life walking through the mountains and hunting, bringing along many friends and family members to carry on the tradition. Delmar pursued his passion for hunting with his son and grandson until his passing, harvesting his last deer at the age of 91.
In the summertime, Delmar loved to travel with his family in their motor home. This adventurous spirit took them to all the continental United States and providences of Canada. After all the roadways and sights of North America were explored, Delmar
transitioned his travel via motor home to more permanent residences, spending much of his free time at vacation homes in Pismo Beach, California, South Padre Island, Texas, and a cabin in California Hot Springs. Ultimately, his travels brought him to Spring, Texas in 2018, where he moved to be closer to family.
Delmar is survived by his devoted, Glenna McCutcheon, as well as his children: Jennifer McCutcheon Campise (spouse Vincent Campise), Ty McCutcheon (spouse Kristen McCutcheon), and James Pete McCutcheon (spouse Sandy McCutcheon).
Additionally, he is remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Taylor and Carter (children of Ty and Kristen), who would bring a smile to his face like no other.
Delmar will be remembered for his strong work ethic, humorous spirit, and deep love for his family. His spirit will live on through his love for cars, the outdoors, and the many songs and memories that take us back to those places.
