Carly Bena Howell Mekuly. Born April 6, 1973 in Houston, Texas Passed away November 10, 2025 at St Luke Hospital, After a long period of battling debilitating illness. She was 52 years young.

Carly will be surely missed. Her enthusiasm in rescuing animals, her joy of cooking and entertaining. Her love and Care of Mr. Gary in her job of elder care working for Homewell Care Services. She spoke often of listening to his stories, being amazed by his intelligence and humor. She spent much time caring for her grandfather Papa before He passed. Assisted in getting her grandmother Nina settled in the senior care unit. Visiting often. Even cooking a few dishes for all the residents when her Nina asked for something. One of her greatest joys and heartbreak was her companion rottweiler D O G. She never got over his death. He lived to be seventeen. Her love of cats was endless. She would carry fifty pounds of cat food, gallons of water, bowls and treats to all the retail spots she visited just to feed the strays. And not just domestic animals; a skunk that had been knocked out by a car~she took it to the Sealife center in Aransas pass. A rooster from Holly pond. I told her I thought it belonged to a neighbor. She said they should have taken better care of it. So I could go on forever telling her adventures but I want to give others an opportunity to share their love of her. Please be kind and keep it short, clean and positive with love in your heart.
