Patrick James Conboy

Patrick "Pat" James Conboy, 79, of Wanatah, passed away peacefully at 12:23 a.m., Sunday, July 6, 2025 at home.
Pat was born April 26, 1946, in La Porte, to George L. and Katherine (Forrester) Conboy.
Pat was raised in Wanatah, and graduated from Wanatah High School in 1964. He served our country in the Air force from January 1966 to July 1969, serving in Vietnam and earning the rank of sergeant. In the service Pat was a Sentry Dog Handler, and Security Police. During his time in the Air force he earned several commendations and ribbons; the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was very proud of his military service and was an active, active life-time member of the Wanatah American Legion Post 403.
Pat was a devout catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Wanatah. Pat was very much a lover of animals and the outdoors. He took care of border collies with his dad and was a member of the Border Collie Association. He was involved in 4H, and was a member of the LaPorte County Horse and Pony 4H Committee, and well as the American Quarter Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife, Christina; children, Phillip L. Conboy, Joseph E. (Dana) Conboy, Jennifer K. VanMeter; sister, Bette "Kay" Kolski; grandchildren, Taylor (Cody) Conboy, Cody (Reagan) Conboy, McKenna Conboy, Avery Conboy, Vincent VanMeter, Jasper VanMeter, Tim Gaul; great-grandchildren; Peyton Gross, Zane Gross; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol St. Clair, Mary Jean Conboy, brother-in-law, James Kolski, and son-in-law and Jeff VanMeter.
There will be a memorial gathering at from 12-4 p.m., July 20 at the American Legion Post 403, 203 S Washington St, Wanatah, IN 46390.
