Patrick Joseph CONNELLY

CONNELLY, Patrick Joseph "Joe" Age 84, a lifelong resident of both Milton and Harwichport, passed away on July 20, 2025, at the Chelsea Soldier's Home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Joanne for 57 years; loving father of Patrick and his wife, Jamie of Milton, Brendan of Needham and James and his wife, Amanda of Abington. Cherished grandfather of Jordan, Shannon, Molly, Jack, Megan, Emma, Will, Paul and Lauren. Twin brother of the late Maureen; and brother of the late John Connelly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Joe, as he was affectionately known, was born in South Boston to the late John William and Mary (Hurley) Connelly. He graduated from Milton High School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. His father owned P.J. Connelly Tavern at Andrew Square in South Boston - the original starting point of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Joe bartended there for many years and later worked for the Town of Milton until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 114 in Milton, where he served as Historian, and was also a member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks.

Joe's happiest days were spent in Harwichport with his family and his beloved dog, Rocky. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The incredible staff at the Veterans Home at Chelsea went above and beyond to ensure Joe's final days were filled with compassionate care.
