Patrick Crider Obituary

Patrick G. Crider, 78, of Crown Point, Ind., passed away on November 5, 2024, surrounded by family. Pat was born on March 17, 1946, in LaPorte, Ind., and was raised in Knox.
Pat is survived by his best friend and wife of 56 years, Diana (Zehner); and their children, William (Annette), Kimberly (Michael); granddaughter, Kadie; brothers and sisters, Shirlee Wakal (Bill), and (Agnes); niece and nephews, Billy, Richard, Ronald, and Ashlee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Crider and Marjorie Crider (Peterson); brother, Ronald Crider; and sister, Judy Marie.
Pat attended Knox High School and graduated in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Pat moved to Crown Point with his wife in 1968 where they have lived for 56 years. He retired from US Steel Gary Works where he worked for 31 years as a maintenance supervisor. Following his retirement he worked for Tranco Industrial Services. Pat loved gardening, fishing, and socializing with friends and family. Pat was the best Gramps to his granddaughter, Kadie. He never met a stranger and was beloved by all of his friends, past employees, and coworkers. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Pat was a member of the Knox American Legion Post #131 and the Crown Point Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be sent to the COPD foundation.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, Ind. 46307 from 1:00 pm until the time of Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.

I´m so very sorry to hear of Pats passing. He was such an amazing Man. Always giving a helping hand and advice on raising 3 boys. My condolences to Diane and family. Sending hugs and prayers.

I worked with Pat at US Steel in Gary. We were in the Central Maintenance Wiregang back in the 1970's. Good times at the Mill.
