We are sad to announce the passing of Patrick Francis Deasey, age 55, of St. Charles, Illinois. Pat passed away suddenly at Delnor Hospital in Geneva on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Pat was born April 10, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Frances Deasey and grew up in Calumet City, IL, graduating from Thornwood HS in 1986. He attended Northwestern University, on an Evans Scholarship, a 4-year full tuition award. Pat majored in Radio, Television and Film. He had a stint in Hollywood. Christian Slater stole his cigarettes. Mel Gibson tried to stare him down. Pat lost the staring contest, but he managed to win Rachel's heart and get her to move out there with him.
Pat had many creative endeavors and hobbies. He was a filmmaker, writer, photographer, and most recently, part-owner of a record store. Pat was an accomplished stay-at-home dad to his 4 children, who were the light of his life. His floor hockey goalie skills were the stuff of "legendary legends." He had many loves: the Cubs, the Blackhawks, records, model trains, baseball cards, showing old movies on a projector, taking pictures, collecting things, and most of all his family and friends.
Pat really found his niche later in life in his love of music, records, and ephemera through his work at Record Wonderland. He was fortunate to work with his best friend Steven Young. His customer wrangling skills were top notch and occasionally acerbic.
Pat is survived by his wife, Rachel Olech, his children, Deirdre (Jesse Lindsay), Zephraim, Corbin, and Miles, his father, James, a sister, Liane (Robert) O'Brien. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a wide group of friends will miss him.
He was preceded by in death by his mother, Frances (nee Cosentino) Deasey, Uncle Thomas Deasey, and his father-in-law Ronald John Olech.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 1 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt 25), St. Charles, Illinois. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 30 from 2-6:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Pat's honor to the Evans Scholars Foundation: https://wgaesf.org/
