Sharon M. Fitzgerald

Sharon M. Fitzgerald, 85, passed away on August 28, 2025. Sharon was born on January 27, 1940. She was raised in NE Minneapolis and graduated from St. Margaret Academy. Sharon entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1958, graduated from St. Catherine University (BA 1963) and Northwestern University (MA 1970). She taught English for 14 years at St. Mary's HS in Bird Island, St. Anthony of Padua HS in Minneapolis, and Derham Hall HS in St. Paul, followed by 29 years at St. Francis HS in St. Francis, MN. Sharon was an active member of AAUW St. Paul, the St. Francis HS Language Arts Good Friends Coterie, several book clubs, and a season ticket holder at the Guthrie Theater. She was a gracious host, an avid gardener, and an enthusiastic traveler. Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, evident in her neighborliness, loyalty to friends, and helping strangers in need. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy, and brother Peter. Sharon is survived by her brother Daniel, sisters-in-law Cheri and Jan, nephew Sean, and nieces Kari Olson and Becky Muczko. A memorial service will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2836 33rd Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN on October 23 at 12:00 noon with visitation at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon to follow the memorial service at St. Albert the Great.
