Patrick Weekley, age 88 of Brooklyn Park, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. Preceded in death by parents, William and Frances; sisters, Ruth Anne Pope, Margaret Olson; granddaughter, Lucy Hesby. He is survived by loving wife of 66 years, Joy; children, Wendy (Jay) Hesby, Michael (Julie), Brian (Connie); grandchildren, Sally (Yair) Carvajalino, Eric (Ellen), Jamie (Peter) Blaney, Jamin Hesby, Nathan; great-grandchildren, Louis, Scout, Leonardo and Lucy Carvajalino; siblings, Jerry (Cherry), Ellen Buffington; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Patrick was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Columbia Heights. He started work as a paper delivery boy in his early years and eventually went to work at the Star Tribune. Patrick held various roles at the Star Tribune in composing, advertising, management, and retiring as a labor negotiations manager after 34 years. His marquee moment was the implementation of the first color printer for newspapers in the United States, which ran its first color print edition for the 1987 World Series. He was a proud alumnus of the Columbia Heights Class of 1955. Patrick was an avid sports fan who also greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and would never miss one of his grandchildren's activities. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Lucy Mae Hesby "She Makes a Difference" Memorial Scholarship. Send to Wayzata High School College and Career Center, 4955 Peony Ln N Plymouth, MN 55446. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 29th, at 11am with visitation one hour prior at the Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel.
