Patrick "Pat" Deputy, 81, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away at home on February 2, 2025. He was born on February 10, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, to Ivan and Merna Bell Deputy.
Pat was raised in Hollywood, California, where he worked as a paperboy for the movie studios and once had the unforgettable experience of playing catch with Elvis Presley. At 14, he and his mother moved to Clear Lake, Iowa, following his father’s passing. He was living there when Buddy Holly’s plane tragically crashed in 1959. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. During his service, he trained as a paratrooper and mechanic—an experience that sparked his lifelong passion for cars and racing.
While in Alaska, Pat met Myrrel Reynolds, and they married on June 3, 1965, in Hardy, Arkansas. They later settled in Northern California, where he built a career with Dunn-Edwards Paints, eventually becoming a store manager. After retiring from Dunn-Edwards after 30 years, he continued working for Frazee Paints as a contractor's representative for another decade.
Pat was an avid camper and off-roading enthusiast who would have happily lived at the sand dunes full-time. A skilled mechanic and handyman, he took pride in his craftsmanship and was known for his loyalty and protective nature. Above all, he cherished his role as a grandfather to his three granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Myrrel Deputy of Henderson; daughter, Kim Deputy of Henderson; son, Craig Deputy of Dallas, Texas; and granddaughters Camila, Scarlett, and Juliana.
A memorial service will be held at 8:00 a.m. on May 27, 2025, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Boulder City, Nevada. Interment will follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
