Michael Deputy 67, of Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, Mike was the beloved son of the late Martha and Jesse, and brother of the late John. He was a 1975 graduate of Father Judge High School, where he began forming the friendships that would last a lifetime. Dep's early years were filled with cherished moments spent at Jardel Rec, where he enjoyed countless hours with friends and family. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Mike honorably served his country for four years before embarking on a lifelong career in public service. He worked diligently for the Philadelphia Prison System, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his community.
Mike is survived by his brother, Dave, his two aunts, and several cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him - his family, friends, and colleagues alike. His presence left an indelible mark on those around him, and he will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, and loyalty. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Monday, December 23rd, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2000 Shelmire St., Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be January 2, 2025 at 1 p.m.
At the end, Dep did not have a lot, but he did serve our country. Longtime friends of his have stepped up to give him a proper send off. Any help with expenses to do this is appreciated. You may Venmo Joe McIntyre at @Joe-McIntyre3 to help with costs. If more than enough is collected, all extra money will be donated to the Veterans Multi Service Center in Mike Deputy's memory.
