Patrick Joseph Galan, Sr. was born to Humberto and Annette Galan on March 26, 1949, in Houston, Texas, and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at his residence in Trinity, Texas, at the age of seventy-six years.
Patrick joined the Houston Texas Fire Department in 1974 and served as a Pipe and Ladder man. He spent most of his time at Station 54, Houston Intercontinental Airport. He retired from Houston Fire Department in 1986. He also served as a Constable with Montgomery County. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on wooden projects. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church, and he sang in the choir. When he was younger, he loved to hunt and fish. Pat married the love of his life, Betty Thompson Galan on July 27, 1968, at Unity Baptist church. He spent many hours with Jason and Kim caring for their Ag animals. He was known for his kindness and loving ways. He was a loving husband and father. Pat had many hobbies in his earlier life. He enjoyed being a member of the Humble Optimistic Club and later became the club president. He would often set up the Christmas tree stands and worked with the children on safety projects.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Humberto and Annette Roliard Galan; his two brothers, Gary and Samuel Galan; and his grandson, Dustin Patrick Galan.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Betty Ann Galan; children: Patricia Allen and husband, Wesley Allen; Patrick J. Galan, Jr.; Deawn Renee Appelgate and husband, Robert Appelgate; Kimberly Yvette Galan; Jason Galan and wife, Jennifer Galan; grandchildren: John Douglas Allen and wife, Gloria Allen, Kaitlyn Nicole Allen, Robert Austin Appelgate and wife, Amanda Appelgate; Tyler Michael Appelgate and wife, Lalita Appelgate; Cody Seth Appelgate; Mason Dylan Appelgate; Tori Anne Mathis and husband, Keith Mathis; Haylee Kash Mills; Emily Grace Galan; Molly Nell Galan; great grandson, Owen Wade Allen; siblings: Karen Elizabeth Blakely, Rose Annette Galan, Gregory Anthony Galan and wife, Joan, Timothy Mark Galan and wife, Kim; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Graveside Services for Patrick Joseph Galan, Sr. will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in the Brookside Memorial Cemetery in Houston, Texas, with Chaplain Glen King officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Memorial Cemetery.
Patrick will be remembered for his kindness, grace, and creativity that touched the lives of all who knew him. His faith, gentle spirit, and love for family and community will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, but his amazing legacy will continue to blossom in the lives of the many he inspired.
