Patrick Goad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nelson Funeral Care - Cloquet on Mar. 22, 2024.
Patrick Allen Goad, age 76 of Carlton, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Essentia Health – St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth after battling a brief health crisis. He was born on October 7, 1947, to Harold and Doris (McCuskey) Goad in Cloquet. He grew up in Wrenshall on the family farm and graduated from Wrenshall High School. Following his education, he entered the United States Air Force and was eager to serve his country. Shortly after his enlistment he received an honorable hardship discharge due to the death of his father. Patrick returned home to help his mother and work on the farm. He also worked at the steel plant in Gary-New Duluth, and later became employed as a charter bus driver with LCS for 13 years. Patrick loved the time he spent with Halvor Lines as an over-the-road truck driver and ended his career at Raveill Trucking in McGregor, retiring in 2020. Patrick was united in marriage to Theresa "Terri" Gruba on September 16, 1989, and overall the two were blessed to share 37 years of life together.
Patrick always seemed to keep to himself. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to whoever may be in need. He served as the rock of his family, keeping the peace and providing a calming presence. Patrick's family will cherish the memory of his holiday fireworks and visits on the porch over a cup of coffee and smokes. Patrick absolutely adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Terri; son, Patrick (Christa) Goad Jr.; grandchildren, Lynnsie (Dylan), Tyler (Cadence), Peyton, Kyle, and Jaycob; great-grandchildren, Claudia, Russell, and Leo; sister-in-law, Marjie; nieces; Skye and Brandy; nephew, Nathen (Ann); countless cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Brittany; and brother, David.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the ceremony. Spring inurnment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Nicholson-Sellgren VFW Post #2962 of Carlton.
