Patrick (Pat) Alexander Henry, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida, after a courageous battle with numerous health complications. He succumbed to kidney failure, with his loving wife, Karen Henry, by his side. Pat Henry was born on November 12, 1943, in Starke, Florida, and spent the majority of his life in Lawtey, Florida.
P.A. Henry dedicated much of his career to the Florida Department of Transportation before serving as Chief Deputy in Bradford County. In his later years, he found joy in volunteering with the School Resource Officer at Lawtey Elementary School. He had a passion for playing golf and enjoyed watching the game on TV in his later years. The happiest moments of his life were on the cruise ship, where he visited the Bahamas, Jamaica, and various other islands with his wife, other family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Henry; his daughter, Leslie Thornton; his granddaughters, Laci Selph and Kingsley Thornton; his grandson, Donald Thornton III; and his great-grandson, Cayden Culpepper. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Henry; his granddaughter, Sara Henry; his parents, Lila Anderson Henry and Alexander H. Henry; and his sisters, Martha Saunders and Mamie Norman. Pat Henry was well-known in his community and loved by many. He will be deeply missed and cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Join us for a celebration of life at Madison Street Baptist Church on Saturday, June 28. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow at Lawtey Cemetery. He is now at home with his Heavenly Father. Forever in our hearts, Pat Henry.
