Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Pike Creek on Apr. 2, 2023.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patrick Roy Holleran, born December 20, 1961 in
Wilmington, Delaware. Patrick was a kind, nurturing soul, and a loving father.
The first half of Patrick's life was an adventurous and active one, with much of his time spent with his two rambunctious kids, tending his blooming gardens of abundant roses, digging for arrowheads and other artifacts, refinishing antique furniture, or jumping out of airplanes. He was a musician, and could often be found atop an enormous amplifier with his electric bass guitar in hand. Some of his favorite artists were Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He loved being at the beach, digging for clams, and long days fishing.
After graduating from Alexis I. duPont High School he followed in his beloved father's footsteps and began a career as an electrician. He joined the Union (IBEW 313), forming deep bonds and lifelong friendships with his brothers there.
After suffering a spinal cord injury in 1999, Patrick directed his focus towards deepening his faith through study as well as teaching.
Music continued to play a large role in his life, along with travel documentaries, Nascar, and the Philadelphia Phillies. His time spent with family in Texas brought out the adult version of his love for playing cowboys as a kid and he started a collection of genuine cowboy hats and boots. He also loved all things Irish, Padre Pio, Andrew Wyeth, trips to Montreal, and bird watching- especially heightened by being in the migratory path of the hummingbirds.
He was an immensely proud father and loving brother, he leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family.
Pat is survived by his son, Patrick; daughter, Lilly; and their mother, Claire (nee Prost); sisters, Linda (Dr. Julius deBroeck) and Binky; nieces: Elise Griesmyer (Matt), Mary deBroeck (Adam Urrutia), Erin deBroeck, Genova Madani; nephews: John deBroeck (Shailey), Ryan deBroeck (Amanda), Anderson Madani, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents John and Bernice (nee Hilty) Holleran; sister, Annie; brother, Jack; and nephew, Michael Kuhn. Heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who steadfastly stood by his side including BJ Lindell, Jack Dudek, Paul Stead, and Father Greg Corrigan.
Patrick will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his contagious laugh, and for the longest frisbee throw in history.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 3-5PM on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd.,
