Richard Hayden Streamer, Sr., age 82 of
Newark, DE, died on December 27, 2025.
Richard was born on March 16, 1943 in Philadelphia to William Alfred Streamer, Sr. and June Ankeny Streamer. Richard was raised in Mt. Airy and graduated from Germantown Friends School in 1961, where he enjoyed participating in baseball, basketball, and football. He graduated from Susquehanna University where he met his first wife, Pamelia Dick. Richard worked for TastyKake for almost four decades, first as a summer intern and then through his adult life. This job took his family across Pennsylvania to Horsham, State College, Murrysville, and Unionville.
Richard had the biggest heart and was passionate about serving others. He coached baseball when his son started playing as a child, and continued to serve the community by coaching local and high school baseball at Unionville High School long after his children were grown. Richard was committed to his faith and was very active in his churches, serving on numerous committees, and could always be found lending a helping hand to behind-the-scenes activities like procuring the annual Christmas tree and coordinating maintenance projects. Most recently, Richard served on the board of Luther House and led several projects including building a gazebo and revitalizing a picnic area and garden shed.
Most commonly known as Pop Pop, Richard was a proud dad, grandfather, and sports fanatic, following his family members, Penn State, Susquehanna University, Philadelphia teams, Seattle teams, and the sports careers of anyone he even remotely knew.
Richard is survived by his wife of 19 years Kathleen Streamer; his daughter Elizabeth Shutler (Brian) of Middleburg, VA; and his son Richard H. Streamer, Jr. (Kimberly) of Sammamish, WA; his grandchildren Christopher Shutler (Gaby), Colin Shutler (Ashleigh), Jill Streamer, Holly Stevens (Robbie), and Scott Streamer; his step-children Thomas Schell (Carole Blake), Amy Schell, and Alex Schell (Carolyn); his step-grandchildren Cassidy Schell, Dylan Schell, Erica Schell, Courtney Schell, Nick Schell, and Mica Kubeck; and his siblings Harry A. Streamer and Judith L. Streamer. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William A. Streamer, Jr., and his first wife Pamelia Dick Crenshaw.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and details will be made available when they are finalized.
