Thomas James Flint of Newark, DE. passed away on December 22, 2025 at the age of 64. Born in Newark, Ohio on March 3, 1961 to the late Alvin J. and Geraldine M.(Holmes) Flint. He has resided in Delaware since the age of 4.

He graduated from Delcastle Technical High School where he studied appliance repair. With influence and guidance from his mentor, Mr. Galbraith, Tom decided to enter the US Navy Reserve upon graduation.He chose to be a Seabee.

On April 26, 1980 Tom enlisted in the US Navy Reserve serving with NMCB21 and then NMCB 23.He proudly served and was deployed to Iraq from February to August 2003 when he was recalled to active duty as a construction Electrician. He retired with the title of Electrician Chief of the USNR Seabees. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his country and striven to be of service to all.

Tom was a dedicated employee of Verizon Services (Middletown) for many years as a lineman. He was referred as "Chief" by many of his coworkers. He was previously employed by Delcollo Electric and Dictograph. He would have retired in the summer of 2026.

Tom married the love of his life, Frances (Fuller) Flint with whom he shared a life filled with family, friends, and many beloved pets over the years. Their life together was filled with many interests including shopping at local Farmers Markets, beach trips, fishing, gardening, cooking and baking. January 10, 2025 will mark the 39th anniversary of their married life together.

Known by many as the "Pillsbury Dough Boy", he delighted in baking over 25 different varieties of Christmas cookies for those he loved every year. Spending time together, enjoying good food, drinks, and conversations with family, friends, coworkers brought great happiness to Tom.

Tom first became "Pops" when his grandson, Michael Gallagher was born.With Mike in their home, Fran and Tom became dedicated to doing all that is entailed in raising him to be the man he has become.Tom earned the title of "Coach" from the baseball teams Mike participated in.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Flint (Fuller) of Newark, DE.; stepmother Violet (Simmons) Flint of Willow Valley, Pa; stepdaughter Alice McKnight (Rob) ; grandchildren Michael Gallagher, P.J. McNutt (Nicole), Brittany McNutt; Christina James; Eric Manna, Chelsea Manna, great grandchildren Charlie and Olivia McNutt, Emma and Ellie James. sisters Sharon Nickles, (Aaron, Elizabeth), Sandra Zimmer, (Jason, Josh); Gretchen Hodgsen (Jeffrey)(Lori, Brian, Mark) ; Janna Vandegrift (Rich) (Julie,Neil, Trevor), brother David Flint, Fla; in-laws Fuller Family ( Charles, Alice, Butch, Martin, Franny, Raymond) and a host of great nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved dachshunds, Angel and Sadie.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin J. and Geraldine MFlint; brother R. Danial Flint; and stepdaughter Tina Manna.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Pat and Carla Jennings; Chiefs Ed Manlove, Nadean Story, Linda Shepard; Jon Hentkowski; Scott Newhouse; staff and physicians of Select Specialty Hospital; Verizon co-workers; neighbors, family and friends who sustained us through this difficult journey with prayers, strength and loving care.

Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 13 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808). Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment at Delaware Veterans' Memorial Park will follow.

Tom you where my friend and neighbor for many years, I always enjoy watching your work so hard in your yard and putting up holiday decorations, and enjoy talking about guns that we owned you were truly a good man hard worker, and a very good husband to Fran and your puppies too I will miss waving to you godspeed, my friend .
