Patrick Joseph Hughes

Patrick J. Hughes, born September 2, 1937 in Akron, Ohio, passed unexpectedly but peacefully on November 17, 2025 at Justin T. Rogers Hospice in Copley, Ohio.

He was the devoted husband of Janice Hughes for 64 years; a proud father to Linda (John) Herman and Dan (Traci) Hughes; and a loving grandfather to Kaitlin, Riley, Austin, Brooke, Dayne, Joelle, and great grandfather to Ava.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents James and Viola Hughes, his brother James Hughes, and his sisters Mary Ann Heitz and Rita Moore.

A graduate of Akron Central High School, Class of 1957, Patrick went on to serve in the United States Army as a Military Police officer in the 3rd Infantry, stationed in Germany, attaining the rank of PFC E3.

Patrick spent most of his career in technical management and security roles. He loved working with his hands, listening to music, visiting with friends, and playing practical jokes on his grandkids. He was always building, fixing, or crafting something and approached every project with patience, problem-solving, and skill.

Patrick loved his family, valued his Catholic faith, and lived his life with dedication and purpose. He will be deeply missed.

A visitation will take place at the Hummel Funeral Home - Fairlawn located at 2800 W. Market St. Friday Nov. 21 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Guardian Angels located at 1686 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Sat. Nov. 22 at 11am.
