Patrick LeTort was born July 13, 1945, in Rennes, France, and passed away on October 20, 2023, at Longview Regional Hospital in Longview, Texas.
Patrick attended Culinary schools in France and achieved the designation of Certified Chef. In 1973 Patrick and his family moved to the U.S. and in 1975 he became the Executive Chef at the University Club in Jackson, Mississippi, an affiliate of the Club Corporation of America.
After many years in Jackson, he served with several other CCA affiliates: The Wine Cellar, Jacksonville, Florida; Oak Hills Country Club, San Antonio, Texas; Petroleum Club, Odessa, Texas; and Holly Tree Country Club, Tyler, Texas. Then in 1987, Patrick and his wife opened their own restaurant, "Le Bistro" in Tyler, Texas, where they had a devoted following of customers and friends.
In 1991, Patrick began a 30-year career with the Cherokee Club on Lake Cherokee in Longview, Texas. Under his leadership, the Cherokee Club more than doubled its membership, made significant renovations and upgrades to the buildings and facilities, and became one of the premier event venues in the area.
He loved visiting with the members and had a remarkable ability to call almost everyone by name. Patrick had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear stories and tell stories. He will also be remembered for his sense of style, his love for his big dogs, and his love of cars.
Through all his years, his wife Annick has been by his side -- she would serve as Hostess or Bartender or whatever needed to be done – and she was always the 'Wind beneath his wings', especially during these past few months of his illness.
Patrick is pre-deceased by his parents, Andre and Yvonne LeTort, by three sisters, Catherine, Claude and Francoise, and by his daughter, Carole LeTort.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 55 years, Marie Annick Poyac LeTort, his daughter Nathalie Wise and her husband Jimmy Wise, three grandchildren, Myles Wise, Harrison Wise, and Lauren Wise McFadden and her husband Stephen McFadden and their son, Reid, age 7 months. He is also survived by his sister Martine Tricot, his brother Yves LeTort, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Private family funeral services are being coordinated by Rader Funeral Home, and there will be a visitation at Rader on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 7 pm.
In addition, there will be a Friends and Family celebration of Patrick's life at the Cherokee Club on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 pm.

Since retiring from club management, I've lost contact with a lot of former friends that I knew from clubs. Yesterday while in church, I was saddened to learn of Patrick's death. I first met Patrick in 1985 when I was invited to have Thanksgiving Dinner with the managing partner at Hollytree Country Club. After informing me that I had been selected as the new GM, he called Patrick over and introduced my wife and me. During my first year there, Patrick was the executive chef, his wife Annick worked in the accounting office and his two daughters Nathalie and Carol worked the reception desk. Great family!!! The saddest day while I was at Hollytree was finding out Carol had been killed in auto accident the night before. The family was always very special and when I became the GM at Pinecrest, Patrick was one of the first people to come to congratulate me. Like when he owned Le Bistro, he invited my wife and me out for a delicious dinner at the Cherokee Club. One of my favorite memories of Patrick was when we went to Dallas to a club management meeting. Just as we were getting into the city, I asked him if he would like to stop at McDonald's for something to eat. In his French accent he said. "McDonald's???" When I said yes, it was like I had insulted him. He said, "No, I want to stop at a bistro." He told me where and we did. It was much better than McDonald's. He was a great guy and will be missed.

I was a sous chef for Patrick at Holly Tree CC in Tyler in 82. He was great to work with and for. That was a special time and I remember how much fun it was to work there, thanks to him. I think of him and the advice he would give to us young chefs. He'll be missed but always thought of fondly.
God bless him,
