Patrick L. Martinez, 62, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Cheyenne. He was born on March 17, 1963, in Cheyenne, to Jose E. and Eulalia Garcia Martinez. Patrick earned his associate’s degree from Laramie County Community College. He worked as an Asphalt Lab Technician and Assistant Lab Supervisor for the State of Wyoming Department of Transportation for 37 years, before retiring in 2022.
Patrick had the most infectious smile. He was always happy, kindhearted, loved to laugh, humble, and had very high level of integrity. Patrick loved his children, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and cousins. He looked forward to his Friday night dinners with his mother Eulalia where she would make his favorite dishes.
Patrick loved to call up longtime friends to reflect and reminisce. Their conversations could last for hours. Patrick loved playing golf with his buddies Ron, Howard, Romo, Chuck, LeRoy, Jay, son Cody, and many other family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, especially when his kids were younger.
Patrick looked forward to playing poker with his family during the holidays. He was obsessed with fantasy football and would spend a great deal of time planning and strategizing to build the perfect roster so he could win league championships.
Patrick is survived by his mother Eulalia Lucero; daughter Vera Martinez; son Cody (Hannah) Overberg; step-daughter Holly, and her children Jesse and Shelbylynn Wright; sisters Eleanor (Mike) Lujan, Bernice Gregorio, Doris (Marc) Martinez, Jeanette (Leroy) Espinoza, Maria (Rust) Simental; brother Albert (MaryAnn) Martinez; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Patrick is preceded in death by his father Jose E. Martinez; brother Danny Martinez; and sister Debbie Esquibel.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service.
