PARKER CITY – Patrick L. (Pat) McGunegill passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in
Muncie, Indiana following an extended illness.
Pat was born September 2, 1943 in Muncie, the son of Earl and Olive (Ryan) McGunegill.
Pat graduated from Selma High School in 1961. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Roselyn Corn, on May 9, 1964, a marriage that lasted 61 years.
In September 1949 at the age of six years old, Pat lost his lower right leg in a train accident, but it never stopped him from excelling in whatever he pursued. At Selma High School he was well-known as an outstanding first baseman and pitcher for the Selma Bluebirds. He ran hurdles, long jumped and threw shot put. After high school, he organized and coached the men's slow pitch softball team, Kirk's Sporting Goods, and competed throughout Indiana.
Continuing his love of sports, he coached his daughters, Sarah and Melissa, in girls slow pitch softball on the Parker City All Star teams. Melissa's team won the Indiana ASA and USSSA State Tournaments several times and played in four National Tournaments. Besides baseball and softball, Pat loved hunting, fishing, shooting trap and sporting clays, snowmobiling, bowling, gardening and being outdoors. For several years he served as President of the Parker City Little League and the Farmland Conservation Club. He was also a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Pat was a skilled journeyman tool & die maker, and worked 32 years at Chrysler-New Castle. He also farmed and raised registered Charolais cattle for many years. Pat will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and for his willingness to volunteer and help others. He had a heart of gold. He was hardworking and dedicated to making sure his family was taken care of. He loved attending family activities, especially shooting trap with his children and grandchildren. He loved to reminisce about ballgames and remembered scores, pitch counts, basketball fouls and numerous other details of his own and his children's sporting events. Pat loved working the earth planting flower and vegetable gardens and mowing all summer long. He was a highly competitive Euchre player and enjoyed playing whenever he could with family and friends. Pat passed on his competitive nature to his kids and grandkids, as well as his "all go, no quit" attitude in life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roselyn, daughters Sarah (Roy) Martin,
