James Mullaney "Patrick" of Woodside Queens, formerly of Geevagh Co Sligo passed away on Monday January 13th. He was 37 years old. Born in Sligo General Hospital to Seamus and Mai Mullaney. Patrick was one of 6 children. He went to Geevagh National School before eventually graduating from Youth Reach in Sligo Town. After graduation Patrick worked for Byrnes Monument Company in Sligo Town. He had a tremendous work ethic. Patrick also had an adventurous spirit and set his sights on New York. He left Sligo in 2005 and moved to Queens NY where he quickly got his license to be a Horse Drawn carriage driver in Central Park. Patrick took his job as a carriage driver very seriously, was always wearing a three piece suit, top hat while telling a yarn to entertain his customers. On January 29th 2011 Patricks life would change for the better. He would meet the love of his life Tara McAuliff. They met at Maggie Maes, Sunnyside in Queens. His sense of humor, compassion and love swept Tara off her feet. They would marry at St Mary's Help of Christians Church in Queens on May 3rd 2013. In 2014 Patrick decided to go back to school and become a welder. He would later work for the International Union fo Operating Engineers Local 15. Patrick will be remembered for his love of welding, WRC Rally Driving, watching Fast & Furious movies or taking romantic walks on the beach with his wife Tara. He will be remembered as an exceptionally loyal and honest Gentleman who was hardworking and extremely disciplined. Patrick is survived by his wife Tara, his parents Seamus and Mai, his siblings Kevin, Olive, Declan, Raymond and Carmel. He will be missed by his Uncles, Aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, many friends and everyone he knew. A Celebration of Patricks Life will take place at the Papavero Funeral Home 72-27 Grand Ave, Maspeth, NY on Thursday January 16th from 4:00-8:00PM. Patricks remains will be repatriated home to Geevagh Co. Sligo on Friday January 17th where he will be buried. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Patricks name to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Patrick, I remember him well from the Starting Gate Bar in Woodside were he would pop in for a cold one after he had finished work on the horse and carriage, he was always very friendly and has a story to tell. Thinking is his wife Tara and his his family circle and friends at this sad tim we. May you rest in peace Pat.
