Patrick Murphy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooney Funeral Home - Park Ridge on Jan. 26, 2026.
Patrick J. Murphy, age 57, passed away on January 21, 2026, after a long illness. Patrick was a graduate of Notre Dame College Prep, Niles, Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign. Devoted son of the late Alfred and Nora Murphy. Fond brother of Ann, Hugh (Laura), Kathleen (Richard) Froehlich, Mary (the late James Hollander), Brian (Michelle), and the late John Murphy. Beloved uncle of Anthony, Andrew (Kate), and Alex (Sarah) Murphy, Meagan, Tara, and Colin Froehlich, Alyssa, Katie, and Kerry Hollander, Ashlin and Ella Murphy. Great uncle of Finnegan, Wyatt, Gideon, Mia, Noah, and Eli Murphy. Pat engaged with the world in many unique ways. He was a teacher, a computer guy, a DJ, and an occasional stand-up comedian. He enjoyed running local trivia contests and singing in karaoke bars. He was a friend to everyone and a consummate volunteer in youth ministry, at the Irish American Heritage Center and many volunteer organizations. As a teacher he helped many students overcome their math anxiety and pass their required tests. A celebration of Patrick's life will be held on February 13, 2026, at Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 700 West Adams Street, Chicago, IL. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Notre Dame College Prep https://www.nddons.org or Misericordia https://support.misericordia.com would be appreciated. Info 847-685-1002 www.cooneyfuneralhome.com
