Patrick Michael Sander

Patrick Michael Sander passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in River Ridge, Louisiana, at the age of 65. He was born on April 9, 1959, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late O.J. and Alberta (Becky) Sander. At the time of his death, he was a resident of DeRidder, Louisiana.

Patrick is survived by his sisters, Judy Sander-Sheldon (Fred), Mary Sarradet (Steve), Beth Cambre (Mike), Rosemary Sander, Peggy Prosperie (Nick), Marian Nicosia; and brother, Joseph Sander, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, O.J. and Alberta (Becky) Sander; and brother-in-law, John Nicosia, Jr.

Due to an accident at birth, Patrick was born profoundly intellectually disabled and spent most of his life in residential institutions and group homes, where he received the long-term care and medical treatment that he required throughout his life. Although there were many activities that Patrick could not take part in, he did love teddy bears, and he liked to listen to music. Patrick was dearly loved by his parents and siblings, who missed having Patrick as part of their daily lives.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who cared for Patrick over the years, especially Germaine Stevenson and Trenekka Moore. Patrick’s quality of life was better because of the care they provided.

A private service was held at St. Benilde Catholic Church on Friday, March 14, 2025, followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
