Patrick Michael Schmitt, age 29, of Owatonna, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Owatonna. Patrick was born on May 12, 1994, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Bonnie Ruedebusch and Kevin Schmitt. Growing up Patrick was active in the Boy Scouts and was proud to have won first place in the Pinewood Derby. He graduated with the class of 2013 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Fargo, North Dakota. Following graduation, Patrick held various delivery driver positions. He was a talented musician with a great musical ear – play him a song once, and he could play it right back. He taught himself to play the guitar and in high school he started a band with his best friends called Embers Will Fall. Patrick was most recently known as Minnesota Kid. Patrick had a love for acting in plays and loved to entertain the room. He was a big teddy bear who was so full of love for everyone, especially his siblings. We will miss and love him forever.
Patrick is survived by his mother, Bonnie Ruedebusch of Austin; father, Kevin Schmitt of Fargo, North Dakota; siblings, Jennifer Lynn Schmitt of Austin, Brandy Gale (Derik Winter) Schmitt of Austin, and Jacob Andrew Dahle of Austin; niece, Amelia Rose Winter; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Philip and Patricia Schmitt; maternal grandparents, Murl and Shirley Ruedebusch; stepmother, Mary Schmitt; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The memorial service for Patrick will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
