Patrick St John, age 76 of Wesley, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the West View Care Center in Britt. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 9, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Wesley with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Wesley American Legion Andrews Post #428. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
Patrick Durwood St John, the son of Durwood and Catherine (Hundertmark) St John, was born on February 29, 1948 in West Bend, Iowa. Pat graduated from Algona High School in 1969. Following graduation, Pat joined the Navy, serving until 1973. On September 8, 1978, he was united in marriage to Karen B. Wingert in Wesley, Iowa. Pat worked at Snap-On Tools as a painter for 39 years. Following his retirement, Pat grew restless and was employed part-time by Hy-Vee. He was a member of the Wesley American Legion. Pat enjoyed camping, his hobbies of woodworking, coloring, and building model cars. Pat died peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Britt, Iowa.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Karen, of Wesley, one brother, Mike St John of Algona, and one sister, Elizabeth (Ron) Metzger of West Bend. He is also survived by in-laws, Garry, Sister Julia, Toby (Tena), Stephen (Marla) Wingert, and Petra McVey. Pat will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents, Clare and Hertula Wingert, in-laws Roger, Dale, and Monte Wingert, Mike McVey, Yolanda, Kathy, Lois, and Margaret Wingert, and his niece Lisa Wingert, nephew, Deon Wingert, and great nephew, Seth Metzger.
