Patrick Turner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel P.A. - Westminster on Mar. 31, 2026.
Patrick Ian Turner, 78, of Westminster, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born June 10, 1947, in Hawick, Scotland, he was the son of the late James Gray and Kathleen Edna (O'Rorke) Turner. He was the loving husband of Mary Bettendorf Turner, his wife of 42 years.

As the son of a Royal Air Force officer, Patrick's childhood years were spent in many different places in England and in Cyprus. Patrick himself enlisted in the Royal Navy, where he spent 16 years, advancing to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His years of service granted him the extraordinary opportunity to travel around the world. After leaving the navy, Patrick continued his career as an accountant, working in Saudi Arabia and the US. When he and Mary got married, they put down roots in Westminster.

In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children Benjamin Turner and wife Shelley, Abigail Few and husband Jon, Monica Turner, Ian Turner and wife Elizabeth, and Peter Turner and wife Resha; sisters Kathleen Walmsley and husband Ronald and Penelope Millsopp; former spouse Denise Turner; and ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his elder brother Michael Turner.

The family will welcome friends at Pritts Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11am to noon. A memorial service will begin at noon.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org).

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.prittsfuneralhome.com.
