William P. "Bill" Banes

William P. "Bill" Banes, age 70, of Sykesville, was born on September 4, 1955, in Baltimore County, Maryland, and passed away on March 27, 2026, at BridgingLife's Dove House in Westminster, Maryland.

Bill was the beloved son of the late Philip Colison Banes and Lois Virginia (Hoetzel) Banes. He was also deeply cherished by Beverly Rouse and Robert Hartman, dear friends who held a special place in his life.

A graduate of South Carroll High School, Bill built a life marked by hard work, independence, and practical skill. He worked as a welder and fabricator, trades that suited his hands-on nature and his ability to think carefully through a task. He also owned and operated his own business, a reflection of his determination, resourcefulness, and commitment to doing things well. Bill was known as analytical, and handy.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed a wide range of interests that reflected both his curiosity and his appreciation for the world around him. He bought and sold antiques and found enjoyment in the history and character of older things. He also enjoyed photography, birdwatching, animals, and camping. He also enjoyed his motorcycle and the time he spent working on motorcycles with his Uncle Allan, memories that brought him happiness and remained meaningful throughout his life. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services and interment will be private per Bill's wishes. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
