Patrick Vargas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. - Middletown on Jan. 31, 2026.
Patrick Alcedo Vargas, a devout Christian, dedicated family man, and avid sports enthusiast, was called to his eternal home on January 21, 2026. Born on April 20, 1961, in the bustling city of New York, Patrick's zest for life and unwavering faith were as iconic as the city itself. He departed this life as he had lived it-surrounded by love and family, in the very place of his birth.

Patrick, affectionately known by his friends and loved ones as simply "Patrick," was an embodiment of love, kindness, and courage. He shared a life full of joy and commitment with his beloved wife Huong Vargas, and was a cherished twin brother to Julio Vargas, a respected brother to Alex Vargas, and a valued brother-in-law to Margaret Vargas. His role as an uncle was not merely a title but a vocation, as he poured love and wisdom into his nephew Alex Junior Vargas, his niece-in-law Stephanie Vargas, MD, and his great-nephew Maxwell Vargas.

An alumnus of SUNY Rockland, Patrick's pursuit of knowledge was tireless, earning him an A.A.S. in Business Administration. His academic journey continued at S.T.A.C., where he completed his B.S. in Accounting and Marketing, and then pursued a Graduate Degree at S.U.N.Y. Empire State. With his robust education, Patrick built a commendable career, serving as a staff accountant, a senior accountant, and an assistant controller for various manufacturing companies. His last professional chapter was with METCAR, where his contributions were both invaluable and deeply appreciated.

Patrick's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. It guided his every action and was reflected in the love and service he provided to his community. His involvement in his church and unwavering commitment to living out his beliefs were an inspiration to many.

Sports played a significant role in Patrick's life, igniting a passion that burned from his youth into his adult years. His athletic spirit was evident in his participation on the track team as a short-distance runner and his proud moment making the basketball team. His love for sports extended beyond the field as he became a loyal fan, relishing trips to Yankee and Citi Field Stadiums to cheer on the Yankees and the Mets. Patrick's enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his love for classic television, with "The Honeymooners," "I Love Lucy," and "The Twilight Zone" being among his favorite shows.

Patrick lived a life that exemplified his values. He was a beacon of kindness, touching the lives of everyone he met with his warm smile and generous heart. His courage in facing life's challenges was a testament to his strong character and deep trust in the Lord.

As we mourn the loss of Patrick Alcedo Vargas, we also celebrate his remarkable life-a life that has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. We take solace in knowing that he now rests in the loving arms of our Savior, where he will continue to watch over us as a guardian angel, with the same love and dedication he showed here on earth. Patrick's legacy will live on, not only in memory but in the way we emulate his loving, kind, and courageous spirit.

We bid farewell to a man who was not only admired for his professional achievements and personal hobbies but also revered for his unwavering faith and the profound impact he made on his family and community. Patrick, your love and light will forever guide us, and your memory will always be a blessing.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Cremation will be private.
