Patrick Gregory Wardlaw

Patrick Gregory Wardlaw, Sr., 76, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on September 1, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Fort Worth in 1948, being a fourth generation Texan, Patrick remained deeply connected to his Texas roots throughout his life. He was a graduate of Polytechnic High School. He previously was employed by Pioneer Insurance Company and Colonial Mortgage Company and spent his last 28 years managing Benbrook Quickway, where he had many customers become friends and even some like family.

At the age of 10, he faced a three-month battle with Rheumatic Fever, relying on his strong faith, determination, will to live, and the blessings of God to overcome this challenging time. He used this as a driving force throughout the rest of his life.

Patrick had a lifelong love for sports, playing guitar, vintage airplanes, coin collecting, and a gift for making people laugh. His sense of humor, curiosity, and easygoing spirit brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his sister, Nina Mary Nan (Wardlaw) Fidler; his sons, Patrick Gregory Wardlaw Jr. (Becky) and Sean Hollis Wardlaw (Debbie); his nephew, J.D. Wardlaw (Sherry), and his beloved granddaughter, Audrey, who brought him immense pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Vivian Lee Compton Wardlaw, as well as his brothers, James Ariel and Jack Lee Wardlaw. He once wrote to his brothers and sister, “I leave this message to my two brothers and sister that I love you all equally.” He wrote that, “Dad taught me to live by example. I always felt that, if I have it and someone needs it, I would help. Love you forever, Pat.”

His family and friends will remember him for the life he lived with quiet dignity and the love he gave unconditionally. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in those who knew him.
