Patrick Jordan Wiggins, 70, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with stage IV liver cancer. A devoted and loving single father to three daughters-Giselle, Sonya, and Trishia-Patrick's legacy lives on through the lives he touched.
He was always ready with advice or a helping hand, teaching his daughters life lessons like "measure twice, cut once," how to fold towels the RIGHT WAY, how to be "assertive" in Houston traffic and was their go-to handyman. He was ready and willing to hang a shelf or build a backdrop or come up with a way to display his grandsons collections. He generously shared his creativity, craftsmanship and wisdom with his daughters.
His life was a testament to the strength of family bonds. This included his deep connection to his siblings; sister Casyle his caring confidant, his beloved brother Randy & sister in law Teresa as well as his best friend, "Irish twin" Valorie. He often took time out of his own schedule to visit and help aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces in times of need.
His eight grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment with them. Patrick's joy, love of adventure, and unwavering support filled their lives and will be dearly missed. He taught them the values of integrity, respect, and honesty. He ensured they knew the importance of standing by their word and treating others with kindness. His presence in their lives was a guiding light, leaving them with lifelong lessons and cherished memories.
Patrick never met an animal he didn't love and was happiest outdoors, soaking up the sunshine on his 25-mile bike rides or relaxing by the pool. A man of many talents, he was an accomplished chess player, Tetris master, Donald Duck impersonator and a lover of classic rock music, frequenting concerts with his daughters.
His epic head of hair and sky-blue eyes were as iconic as his warm smile and infectious laughter. He never met a stranger and would often embarrass his kids or grandkids taking up conversations with people in elevators or the grocery store. Pat became well known and well liked at MD Anderson by the nurses and doctors who cared for him. Many of them cried and shared hugs when they learned about his fate.
He was an eternal optimist, known for his grit, compassion, and a great sense of humor that never wavered, even after being diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer and a rare parkinsonism disease (PSP) which similarly affected his late brother Randy (CBD).
Despite the challenges life threw his way, Patrick's spirit remained unshaken. He never let "the odds" define his path and continued to live life on his terms despite his diagnosis. He found joy and humor in every situation, showing his family what it meant to live fully and with resilience.
A Celebration of Life will be held early next year.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to CurePSP in Patrick and Randy Wiggins' honor. CurePSP.org is dedicated to unlocking the secrets of brain disease through research - Patrick's brain has been donated in hopes to provide some insight on how to diagnose, treat or slow the progression of these devastating diseases.
His legacy of love, hard work, and laughter will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
