Patsy Childress, a beloved mother, Nana and bonus mom to many in her life, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the Arkansas Health Center. Born on July 24, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Patsy lived a life full of love, support, and devoted care for those around her.
Throughout her life, Patsy was known for her giving heart and willingness to support others. She truly embodied the spirit of family and friends, often opening her home to many and adopting children's hearts as her own. Her nurturing nature made her the ideal caregiver, and she excelled in making sure that everyone felt welcomed and cared for. Her home served as a gathering place where love and laughter flowed freely.
As a mother and grandmother, Patsy's love knew no bounds. She imparted a sense of adventure and fun to her grandchildren, Blade Johnson and Cole Johnson, allowing them to enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood. From playing in the mud to turning mattresses into trampolines, to long nights spent in the company of board games and movies, she fostered an environment of warmth and joy. Her legacy as a nurturing figure will carry on through the fond memories she created.
Patsy was many things to people in her life as mom, Nana, best friend, and Mama Patsy to several kids that she opened her heart and home to.
Patsy is preceded in death by her loving husband R.L. Childress and her beloved son Adam Childress.
Patsy leaves behind her loving daughter and best friend, Crystal Johnson and her husband Danny, her adopted son, James Freeman, and her treasured grandchildren, her angels Blade and Cole. She is also survived by many family members and friends who will miss her dearly and remember her with love.
A visitation in her honor will take place on May 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas
Patsy's life was a testament to kindness, faith, love, and the importance of family. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
