Patsy Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home - Sherrodsville on Jan. 10, 2026.
Patsy J. "Memaw" Cox, age 86, of Sherrodsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health.

Born September 10, 1939, in Sherrodsville, she was the daughter of the late John Marvin and Garnet (Russell) Herbert. Patsy was a faithful member of Sherrodsville Calvary Church and a proud 1957 graduate of Conotton Valley High School, where she formed lifelong friendships. She later retired from the Sherrodsville Post Office after years of dedicated service.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures-gardening in her flower beds, reading, working on puzzles, and spending time with those she loved most. Patsy was also a founding member of the local women's card club, where she played euchre weekly with her dear friends. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith. Patsy's warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Billy Cox, her parents, and her sister Loretta. She is survived by her siblings Shirley (Ken), Gayle (Charles), Vicki, Iris, Penny (Craig), and John (Debbie); her daughters LuRae (Trev) Elmore and Tracy (Jamie) Hidey; her grandchildren Byron (Chandice) Elmore, Jessica (Vinnie) Russell, Chelsea (Nolan) Wolf, Taylor (Andrew) Russell, Trever (Ashleigh) Russell, Hunter (Brady) Russell, Kristin (Cory) Randles, and Billy (Amanda) McLandsborough; many great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless people who she loved and who loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the Sherrodsville Calvary Church with Pastor Kenneth D. Ogg officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville. Cremation will follow services and her ashes will be interred in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens at a later date. To leave an online condolence message, please visit the funeral home website.
