William L. "Bill" Sensel, age 73, of Bowerston, Ohio, died Thursday morning, February 19, 2026 in the Aultman Hospital at Canton.

He was born March 12, 1952 in Dennison, Ohio, and was the son of the late Robert F. Sensel and Velma (Romig) Sensel Travis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert D. "Bob" Sensel and a sister, Dana Johnson.

Bill graduated from Conotton Valley High School, Class of 1970 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University in 1974. He initially began working in the grocery business, managing various IGA Stores in Suffield, Oberlin, Bellevue, and Lodi, Ohio. He eventually returned to Sherrodsville in 1983 to manage the family insurance business, Sensel insurance Agency for sixteen years until he sold the agency in 1999. He retired from Dover Hydraulics after 25 years of service to the company.

Bill had varied areas of interest and involvement. He was an officer of the Tappan Bass Masters Club, served as president of the Conotton Valley Athletic Booster Club, and coached his sons in Pee-Wee football. He also served as president of the Lee Lake Homeowners Association, and was a board member of the Cadiz Country Club. Bill loved fishing and snowmobiling in Chautauqua County, New York, and golfing in Ohio and South Carolina. A consummate fan, he enjoyed watching and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda J. (Leggett) Sensel, whom he married July 7, 1973, two sons, Rob (Tiffany) Sensel and their children Bobbie and Jilly of Strasburg, OH, and Dan (Andrea) Sensel and their children Aubrey, Zach, and Carter Sensel of Arlington, OH, a sister-in-law, Trudy Sensel of Dover, OH, and a brother-in-law George Johnson of Virginia.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held March 8, 2026 where friends can gather from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the Cadiz Country Club, 800 Country Club Road, Cadiz, OH. Interment of his ashes will follow at a later date in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens where a family graveside service will be observed. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with his cremation arrangements.
