Lee Funeral Home - OwingsIt is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marjorie Mae Hackenberg (Greenbank), 75 on Monday February 16th, 2026. Marge passed away peacefully at her home in Owings, MD.
Marge was born in Wadsworth, OH on September 6th , 1950 and was the daughter of the late Chester Greenbank and the late Josephine Greenbank (Zollinger) of Rittman, OH. Marge was predeceased by both her sister Marian Steiner and brother Michael Greenbank. Marge is survived by her loving husband Richard and loving sons Timothy (Gabrielle) and Michael and grandchildren, Sawyer and Charlotte. Marge is also survived by brother-in-law Raymond Hackenberg (Lori), sister-in-law Karen Sue Kolarik (Richard) and brother-in-law Carl Adam (Carol) as well as nieces and nephews Kimberly (Greg), Hallie (Peter), Kendall (Cole) Kaitlin (Alex), Kyle (Mia), Zachary (Raquel) and grandnieces and nephews, Calvin, Garret, Alexandria, Patrick (Emma) and Reagan (Braydon).
Marge grew up in Rittman, OH and graduated from Rittman High School with honors in 1968. She received her B.S. in Microbiology from Kent State University in 1972 and became a certified Medical Technolgist working in hospital labs in Ohio and Texas. After taking time to raise her two sons, Marge returned to work at Maryland Eye Associates as a triage specialist, finally retiring in 2016. Marge was a Southern Maryland resident since 2000 and resided in South Carolina, Texas and Ohio.
Marge had a variety of interests including being a avid life-long reader, an accomplished acrylic artist, a skilled bridge and Hand and Foot card player, a world traveler, life-long Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and an interest in current events and national politics. Marge wholeheartedly supported her son's educations, serving as a PTA president and school volunteer. Marge especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Marge will be remembered for her love and unconditional support of her family. her unrelenting curiosity, her artistic flair and taste and her kind and loving spirit.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on March 16th, 2026 from 10am to 11:30 am at Lee Funeral Home Calvert PA, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 A private interment will follow in the early afternoon at Chesapeake Highlands Memorial Gardens, 3270 Broomes Island Rd, Port Republic, MD 20676.
In leiu of sending flowers please make a donation to your local American Lung Association chapter in Marge's name. This would be greatly appreciated.
