Patsy C. Kenworthy, 78, of Mound Valley, passed away the morning of Monday, November 24, 2025, at Labette Health.
Patsy Christene Lewis was born on January 5, 1947, to Christopher and Joanna D. (Beardmore) Lewis in Parsons, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Dennis.
After marrying her high school sweetheart, Jack Kenworthy, the couple lived in numerous places because of Jack’s career with the U.S. Army.
In 1978, following Jack’s death, Patsy moved to Mound Valley with her daughters. For eight years, Patsy owned and operated PJ’s in Mound Valley. Later, she worked at Grandview Products until her retirement.
An independent, hard-headed lady, Patsy enjoyed yardwork, sewing, quilting, crocheting and going to the casino. She loved Elvis and Don Williams
Survivors include:
Two daughters – Gwendolyn S. Shields (Dan) of Parsons, Kansas
Carol Hale of Parsons, Kansas
One granddaughter – Torrie Hale (Jake Olson) of Altamont, Kansas
One great-grandson – Damon Olson
One brother – Darrell Lewis (Judy) of Afton, Oklahoma
One niece - Cristi Lewis of Parsons, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Kenworthy; an infant daughter, Patty Ann Kenworthy; and one brother, Thomas Lewis.
The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Dennis.
Memorials are suggested to the Mound Valley Flagpole Festival. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
