Funeral services for Patsy Ruth Lewis Fox will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Monroe, Louisiana with Shelby Moore officiating. A time of visitation will precede the services beginning at 10:30 AM, January 4th, in the Mulhearn Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Will Shutt, John Fox Coats, Matt Fox, Lucas Fox, Jason Logsdon, and G.G. Grant.
Mrs. Fox was born in Smackover, Arkansas on October 22, 1929, and passed away on December 23, 2024 at the age of 95 at the Oak Woods Rehabilitation Center in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her father, W.L. Lewis, her mother, Lou Alice Gray Lewis, and her husband of 43 years, Harry Daniel Fox.
Patsy graduated from Texarkana Texas High School in 1946, Texarkana Junior College in 1948, and Cum Laude from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana in 1950. While at Louisiana Tech, she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, Blue Jackets, and Phi Beta Kappa. It was at Tech that she met her future husband, Harry.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bastrop since 1954. Mrs. Fox also taught school in Louisiana and Georgia for several years until she retired to raise her family. Patsy was active in civic affairs as she organized and served as the local and state President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and was an active member of the Bastrop Jaycee Janes. She served on the Board of Directors of the Morehouse Country Club, Rimcor, Inc., and the Summer House Condominium Association in Orange Beach, Alabama. She loved to read and was a Life Master Bridge Player.
Mrs. Fox is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Lou Fox Shutt of San Antonio, Texas, and Rebecca Fox Coats and her husband, John of Mer Rouge, Louisiana and one son, Martin Daniel Fox and his wife, Leslie of Stockton, Alabama. Patsy is also survived by four grandsons, Will Shutt and his wife, Charlotte of Katy, Texas, John Fox Coats and his wife, Tori of Brandon, Mississippi, Matthew Fox and his wife Alexandra and Lucas Fox all of Mobile, Alabama and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Shutt Logsdon and her husband, Jason of San Antonio, Texas and Catherine Coats of West Monroe, Louisiana. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Willie Shutt of Katy, Texas, Chloe Jane Logsdon and Cadence Fox Logsdon, both of San Antonio, Texas, and Wren Shyan Coats and Fox McRae Coats both of Brandon, Mississippi. Othe survivors include several nieces and nephews and a very special family friend, G.G. Grant.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, Louisiana 71211 or to the charity of your choice.
