Patsy Murry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory Oxon Hill on Nov. 16, 2025.
Patsy Ann Murry, lovingly known as Pat, of Browns Summit, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 2, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1948, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Grady and Thelma Stevens Sr. Pat grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended William H. Taft Elementary, James G. Birney Middle, and McKinley Technology High School, graduating in 1966 as a National Honor Society member. She married the late Wayne Froe, and together they had two children, Patrick "Ricky" and Lisa. She later married her loving husband of 37 years, Preston Murry, becoming stepmother to his children, Regina and Quinton. Pat spent much of her life in Prince George's County, Maryland, before retiring in North Carolina. Pat began her Federal Government career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1966, and expressed great pride in working from an intern up to a Senior Executive Secretary. She earned her Associate's Degree from Prince George's Community College which led to her final post as a Senior Consumer Support Specialist. Pat was part of an eight-person team that processed ninety-one thousand emails in one year and was featured on a post card across America acknowledging the team's accomplishments. After 36 years of service, Pat retired from work, but continued to stay busy. In retirement, Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, learning new things, and enjoying life. Pat was kind to all and was known for getting her carefully selected Hallmark card delivered to you just in time for your birthday. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, niece, and friend. Pat leaves behind her loving husband, Preston Murry, sister Jennifer "Jen" (Carlton) Skinner, brothers Grady "Bo" Stevens, Jr. and Glen "Sugar-Ray" Stevens, children Patrick (Hanna) Froe Sr. and Lisa Froe. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Hanna (Benjamin) Rozell and Patrick (Malinda) Froe Jr., Daniel (Jasmine) Froe, Kenisha Froe, Kayla Ayeni, great-grandchild Jeriah Froe. Stepchildren Quinyardo (Anita) McClain II and Regina Murry, step-grandchildren Julien and Malcom McClain, Aniyah Murry and Mariah Marshall along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

McGirt-Horton Book Group

November 19, 2025

We, the members of the McGirt-Horton Book Group, are so very saddened by the death of Patsy Froe Murry. Our circle of long-time book club members has been broken. Many of us gathered today at the McGirt -Horton Branch Library where we meet monthly to view the homegoing service for our dear reader, Patsy. Although this is a somber time for us, we see beyond our sorrow and look back at fond memories of time shared with Patsy. We always enjoyed Patsy sharing her travel trips with us. We cherish our memories of our conversations and exchanges with Patsy at our book group meeting on September 12, 2025. As book group members, we pray for peace and comfort for Patsy´s entire family, and especially for her granddaughter whom we met when she visited with us at the library some years back before Covid during a summer visit with Patsy. Know that we all share in your sorrow and that we will continue to keep you in our thoughts and lift you up in our prayers.
