On January 17, 2024 Patsy Carol Nanny was taken by the hand of our Savior JESUS CHRIST and led to the same Paradise a thief who was crucified on a cross with HIM the time of HIS Crucifixion.  She was born on the day of Love, Valentine's Day February 14, 1945, a lifetime resident of Dinwiddie County and was preceded in death by her beloved parents Benjamin Wesley "Dick" Nanny and Mary Frances Bridgeman "Hannah" Nanny. She has been a member of the Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church in DeWitt since 1974. A graduate of Dinwiddie County High School on June 10, 1965, she graduated from the Flair Beauty Institute of Cosmetology in 1967 and worked for 19 years in this field at both the former Rucker-Rosenstock Department Store and the Clip and Curl Beauty Shop in Petersburg. In 1986 she gained employment at the Richmond-Petersburg Toll Road Authority and worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 9 years until her retirement because of debilitating Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is survived by her sister Nancy Nanny Lewis and husband Alton D. Lewis of DeWitt, brother Vincent Evans Nanny and wife Patricia Davis Nanny of Chester, nephew Paul Vincent Nanny and wife Julie Ann Molver Nanny of Midlothian, niece Lauryn Davis Nanny Stewart and husband Dr. Ian Edward Stewart of Richmond, a great nephew Landon Robert Nanny of Midlothian and many special cousins, friends and wonderful neighbors. Patsy loved GOD, flowers, birds and the beauty of everything that GOD made. For years she could not leave her home except for a required Doctor or Dentist visit. When she did, she looked for the thing’s others take for granted such as how beautiful the sky was or how beautiful a tree was. At age 45 she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Although the diagnosis represented a daunting challenge that clearly foreshadowed the difficult time to come, she grew in faith and furrowed her brow, never shrinking away or fading from life or her responsibilities. She bravely fought the disease and in doing so gave her family a lifetime of loving memories.  Her legacy is one of triumph over tragedy, of light over darkness where a good person wins and loves and a good outlook on life conquers all. "And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, your suffering is over". (Mark 15: 34).   The family would like to thank the Staff of the Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from the highest echelon down for their care of Patsy. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S. Crater Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Dr. Katherine C. Jackson officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.  A private family graveside will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park at a later time.  Although she loved every flower, she ever laid an eye on we know that she would like memorial contributions to be made to Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church, 17113 McKenney Avenue, DeWitt.  Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
